The Iowa College Foundation (ICF) is pleased to welcome Tara K. Connolly as its new president-elect.
Tara brings more than two decades of experience in higher education advancement, nonprofit leadership, and cross-sector fundraising. Most recently, she served as executive director of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) Foundation, where she led record-setting fundraising initiatives, expanded corporate and community engagement, and increased scholarship support for students across six campuses.
Tara’s background also includes leadership roles in health and human services philanthropy, where she supported community-based initiatives and expanded access to essential services. Earlier in her career, she held roles in public service and civic engagement, sharpening her ability to build coalitions, navigate complex systems, and advocate for mission-driven change.
A graduate of both Villanova University and Regis University, Tara is a strong believer in the life-changing impact of independent higher education.
“ICF plays a vital role in making college more accessible and affordable across the state,” Connolly said. “As a product of private education myself, I’m honored to support the students, donors, and institutions that make this work so meaningful. Investing in Students. Strengthening Iowa. Preserving Choice in Higher Education. They reflect the foundation’s impact—and the vision I’m excited to carry forward.”
Tara will work alongside current ICF president Ed Finn during the transition period. Her leadership marks a continued commitment to innovation, collaboration, and student-centered impact for ICF and its 22 member institutions.
